Most people don't realize the power, influence, and impact they have when they are working toward their dream or goals.
And sometimes the inspiration can come from how you conduct yourself in your daily life.
But there is no doubt, you can ignite confidence and belief in others.
One of the many reasons for starting this 52 for Fifty Two posting idea was to elevate self-confidence and self-belief for others. I simply want people to believe in themselves and continue to work toward being their best self.
I grew up in Marshfield, Wisconsin which was a town of about 20,000 and went to a small private school that had 120 kids total in the high school.
My environment was small, but there were plenty of people growing up that I was able to look up to even from a young age.
All I cared about was basketball between ages 6-18, so the individuals that ignited my drive, confidence, and self-belief came from being a Marshfield Columbus athlete.
I witnessed Rich Seubert be an amazing 3-sport athlete at Columbus. He ended up having a 10-year career as an offensive lineman for the New York Giants and was the starting left guard when the Giants won Super Bowl XLII.
I saw a young John Willkom go from a 7th grade basketball player at Columbus to a walk-on player at Division 1 Marquette in 2004. He now has two award winning books, Walk On Warrior and No Fear In The Arena.
Mike Lee went on to play basketball at NCAA Division 3 UW-Stout. What he did after is extraordinary. He began running basketball training clinics and ended up training athletes that would become NBA All-Stars. Now he is a keynote speaker and author where he influences lives around the world.
Luke Knauf was an extra big brother to me for two winters when my older brother and Luke were on a middle school basketball team together. He literally was a "big" brother as he was big, strong, and disciplined enough to play for Wisconsin Badgers Football.
Jason Linzmeier was the first basketball player I knew personally that could dunk regularly in a basketball game which was rare then and probably still is today. He led Columbus to two state basketball titles. He also went on to be a 1,000 point scorer at NCAA Division 2 Winona State University.
These individuals not only accomplished great things that I was fortunate enough to witness at a very young age and into my adult life.
I know for a fact that if I did not have these type of examples in my life and having witnessed their journeys, I may not be where or who I am today.
These individuals may not even know the influence and impact they had on me.
That is why I urge people to strive for your goals.
Be a good example for others.
Share your experiences.
Your journey can inspire others.
It just might ignite a fire and passion in someone that will continue to do good in this world.
